TESOL teacher part-time at Embassy English, Hastings and with Etta Ermini on the Moving Words Project at Chisenhale Dance Space, London
(2008-10). Studies continue with language learners in understanding the traditional culture of movement in English Country dance and music with the Twin Arts Barn Dance Band.

1989-91 NATIONAL BALLET OF ZIMBABWE - Founder and Director of The Dance Foundation Course at National Ballet - initial research, outreach teaching, recruiting and founding of City Youth Group and implementation. The Dance Foundation Course performed extensively in Harare and Schools in High & Low-Density areas. Graduate students have careers in Dance in Britain, Europe and have formed the first professional Contemporary Dance Groups in Zimbabwe.

ARTISTIC DIRECTION

Most recently Vivienne has been exploring site specific dance on beaches, on the piers and in Art Galleries of the South Coast: Examples being the forthcoming hosting of an event in Coastal Currents Festival, Dancing to the sounds of the Sea, September 9, 2018, Movement for the frieze of Florence Peake’s ‘RITE’, at the DLWP and a moving response to the installaion by Roy Voss :The Way Things Are, a work with the gallery length sculpture of a Pier.

2000- Trustee, Twin Arts Educational Trust, Zimbabwe: to further the appreciation of the twin arts of Music and Dance. It enables creative work for performing groups Dance People and Twin Arts String Orchestras, runs a weekly Arts Events Listing in Zimbabwe, plus a web site, as well as dance and music teaching programmes

1989- Artistic Director of and Choreographer for Dance People. DANCE PEOPLE, a semi-professional, project-based group, aims to provide opportunities to show new dancers, choreography and new choreographers. In its first performance Dec 8th 1989, it was named to distinguish the first Dance Foundation Course at National Ballet. Notable productions include:

FILMS

GIVE US PEACE (2002)
Nov 2002 in Harare, written and co-produced with director Ingrid Sinclair of Zimmedia. Set to the Pie Jesu from Faure's Requiem, the film chronicles the journey of Jonathan a father and dancer, across riot torn Harare, to a performance of a duet with a child in The Requiem.

CHOREOGRAPHY

2002 'PLANES/PLAINS' Based on the use of different planes in the body and the space in the Alliance Francais theatre set to music by Dollar Brand, for the programme WING IT 'BEFORE THE BODY' an improvised structure using isolations of parts of the body where performers can take over the telling of the story at any point. 'RUNES' an improvised structure initiated by using the weight through the body and in creating duets. (Both of above with other improvised structures used to create the performance WING IT which allowed interactive games with the audience exposing DANCE as "the movement of the human body in space, over time, with weight shaped by energy and dynamics.
     
'FAURE'S REQUIEM' for DANCE PEOPLE with childrens group set to music of the same name, for the programme MOVING SILENCE.
      'MAI JOHN' a contemporary story performed in a traditional style, telling of a mother's efforts to get medical treatment for her son during times of political and economic hardship in a mining/gumbooting area for the programme Moving Silence.

2000 'COUNCIL OF ALL BEINGS' (see pictures) Set to a lecture illustrating the time line of the history of the creation of the universe, from the BIG BANG to the harnessing of nuclear power. Created for students from 'Southern Lights' a school for children for whom the traditional Zimbabwean education does not cater (i.e. students with learning problems and aspirations.) The choreography worked through the development of the spiral, cf. European Modern Dance Development from 1930's. Strong use of props to focus the students, including fireworks, streamers, bamboo poles, leaves and jungle gyms.


'ARC' to Albinoni's - Adagio in G, - work with cloth and stage space for 6 dancers
'RE-CYCLED' - Music composed by Chris Hamblin - work using recycled objects, puppet, costumes and myths
'RUN AND STOP' - Music by Chris Hamblin, based on 'AfroCelts' the dance work created on improvisation and choreographic structures that form the basis of a choreography course.
(The above three works initially made to carve stage space dynamically with a cast that had little dance experience. Eventually joined by a strong group of dancers, and chosen then for Best of Hifa 2000)
'ZEBRA 1,2 and 3' - development of a work inspired by a David Bintely solo from 'Still Life at the Penguin Café'. Original music by Justin Fletcher.
'SAVANNAH NINJA' - with hip-hop comedy section to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', for Dance Foundation Course Students for International Marketing Manager of the Year Award Ceremony.
